Boston Whaler - Fitting new wood
In this photo you can see that I will be using 2 4x4 ft sheets and 1 2 x4 ft sheet of 3/8 marine ply wood. I had to do a little trimming to fit but it went in well. I layed the wood over the deck holes and then pulled the wood to the side and looked up thru the deck holes and traced a circle. I then went about 2 inches bigger and cut with a Roto zip with circle adapter. I did not get the perfect cut like I wanted but it will be good and strong enough for the job.

Hi,did you use 3/8's ply for the first layer? I thought that that was 1/4" in the drawings to make the hatch flush with the deck. When I did mine I used the 1/4" first and then 1/2", with the joints stagered, came out great.

I did 3/8 for both layers and it did great also. It was a little higher but I don't think it will be a issue. Someone used 3 layers of 1/4 staggered I believe.
