To repair the diaphragm I soldered each leak using a Weller 140 watt soldering gun ( http://www.walmart.com/ip/Weller-8200...t/23034953) and rosin core solder purchased from Radio Shack. This worked really well and fixed the leaks in the original diaphragm even though I eventually replaced the diaphragm during the repair process.
Ritchie does not currently service or have replacement parts available for the model 15; however, a substitute capsule (Replacement capsule for Ritchie Explorer V57 and V57.2, Ritchie Part No. EX-0067ASY; https://www.ritchienavigation.com/med...plorer.pdf) is available that according to Ritchie can be used as a replacement if the original capsule is not repairable. The EX-0067ASY capsule is a direct read dial (read in the front) so it is not a perfect match for the original indirect read flat card dial (read in the back) but allows one to restore a non-functional compass to working condition.
