Boston Whaler - Drill Fixture
These I machine from mild steel flat stock 12 in. x 1 in.. There is one plate with 6 drill holes and a 2nd with only 4 holes. The 6 hole plate is the first step in the process. The 2 outer holes were drilled for #10 fasteners while the remaining 4 are drilled for .250 in.. This plate is mounted to the transom using the existing #10 outer holes and secured. Now re-drill the center 4 to .250 in. and repeat this process on the starboard side. Next, mount the 4 hole plate to the previously drilled area using only the 2 locator pins that appear in the picture. These pins are .250 in. diameter. The pins go through the 2 inner holes and with a light press fit enter the appropriately drilled holes in the transom. Now I can re-drill the unfinished 2 outer holes that are still #10. Repeat this on the starboard side and done.
