Hi,I am wondering do you still have the Honda 150hp? I have the same boat and looking to reposer my outboard. Is the Honda performance similar to the optimax 150?

virgilb,

I really like the Mercury 115 CT. The boat gets on plane as quick as the 150 two stroke it replaced. Top speed with the 115 is 37 knots, two adults on board with a full tank of fuel. With the Classic Outrage 18, it's a weight issue. In my opinion, the splash well drain tubes need to remain above the water line. An outboard weighing less than 420 lbs. is the target. Mercury 115, Yamaha 115, Suzuki 140 or Evinrude Etec 150 two stroke fit that requirement.
Good luck.

How has the 115 been so far. I am thinking of putting one on my 1983 Outrage 18 and Im wondering if you ever felt like you would have ever wanted the 150 instead. I will be carrying 5 people most of the time and I am hoping the lighter 115 would be a usable engine.

Hi, I am interested in the F70 repower on your Dauntless 15. I have the same boat with a 1997 Merc 50 4s and would like more power and a newer motor. The boat is super sensitive to porpoising, were you able to improve that on yours?
What trim tabs are you using?
In which hole from top of bracket is the f70 mounted?
What prop are you using?
Your boat looks great!
Thank you,
John

Sorry I have not replied to your post but I sold this boat to a fellow in Texas and I just dropped off site until now as I am in process of restoring a BW Montauk. I was not aware of your post. Sorry. If you are still in Chas. I would love to get together. I live in Greenville but have a place downtown Georgetown on the river where I keep my boat.
Appreciate your service.

Very nice woodworking job. I would say thats one for the showroom. What kind of paint did you use on the interior and what was the color name? Interested in what kind of engine you will be putting on her too. Will you go antique or modern?

Hi Mjfnet. Nice boat of yours! This is very similar to my boat (Montauk 190 + Mercury 150 EFI). I need to install a 2nd engine, same as yours, long leg.
May I ask you to spend a few minutes answering a few questions?
I need to know how you have installed the 9.9 engine (what kind of bracket?). Second, I'd like to know how you manage the helm and how you manage the smaller engine when cruising at high speed.
Thank you so much for your help, Jack

Wow that is a gorgeous Lyman lapstrake you got, Is that a 23 or a 25. I'm jealous of both the Outrage & Lyman.
What inboard power does the Lyman have, straight 6 or a V-8?

Wow that is a gorgeous Outrage 18 that you found, with many nice optional features. May it serve you well as you keep up the lake traditions with your family.

Thank you for the compliments! Ordering from the Brunswick Commercial Division was easy and painless. 120 days from the first time I spoke to them until the boat was in my hands. Not bad for a custom build.

Welcome to the 17 club! Hope you get the engine running great. Best all around boat I've ever had. 23 years of great service and the only way I would ever get rid of it is for a garage kept one in perfect condition. No spider cracks or crazing.

Nice Looking Whaler you have there. I really like the center console out of mahogany. I have never seen anything like it before. Welcome to the club.

I consider your 1976 Boston Whaler Sakonnet a rare 17 foot smirked hull boat. I have never seen one in person. I noticed you have the optional forward seat on your console. It is still a Sakonnet, even without the forward platform; 1976 was the last year of the Sakonnet model.
