Boston Whaler - Stripping, Sanding, And Prepping The Mahogany Interior
Stripping the mahogany interior components was an extremely labor intensive task. To do so, I applied heat to a small area with a heat gun and then scraped off the heated varnish. The console took and entire day to strip. The wood was then sanded, blown off, and cleaned with a tack cloth prior applying varnish. If I had known that the repower would be delayed until late August, I would have taken the additional step of using a wood cleaner to remove any blackening. Note that all of the wood assemblies were disassembled prior to stripping and sanding.
