I initially attempted to repair the leak between the acrylic globe and brass housing using silicone. I used an exacto knife and sand paper to roughen the brass and acrylic where the two meet around the entire circumference of the globe/housing. I then masked off the globe, cleaned the area with isopropyl alcohol and applied the silicone.

This approach was not successful so I scraped off the silicone and repeated the above process using JB Weld (http://www.jbweld.com/product/j-b-weld//j-b-weld/).
