Boston Whaler - Door Frame Installation
Once I had the door frames built I had to enlarge the holes on the console. One of my complaints about my Montauk is the console door is to small to fit my tackle box through -- I have corrected that on this boat. I back cut the frames 1/4" to fit them in like the originals where the wood covers the exposed glass edges. All I need to do on these is round over the front edge and they will be ready to go. I have also been sanding off all the paint on the console and grinding out crazing and spider cracks with my Dremmel. I had to replace the wood inside along the bottom of the console -- I cut out the old rotten stuff and glassed in new 7 ply lumber. It really has made a difference in the overall structural integrity of the console.
