Boston Whaler - Gear Case Primed - Right
Next the gear case housing was wiped down with acetone and self-etching automotive primer applied. This is a product specifically designed for painting aluminum. I considered using zinc-chromate primer but since the boat is primarily used in fresh water I opted for this approach. If the finish doesn't hold up I'll tear it back down and use zinc-chromate or zinc-phosphate primer.
