Project Albums by Ron Mazcko > Custom Stern Seat > Side Rails
Boston Whaler - Side Rails
The project started with construction of the side rails. The top side rail is positioned on the Port Side. The bottom side rail is positioned on the Starboard Side. For both rails note that 1x1s are screwed into the bottom portion of the 1x4s. These 1x1s are offset from the bottom by about 1/8" primarily to allow proper under-clearance at the battery. Note that the Starboard side rail has a notch in the rear portion. This allows access the the fuse and terminal connection compartment w/o dismantling the seat. The next few photos will further define some of the details of these components.

Note that I installed clear rubber round "feet" that are glued to the Whaler side ledges. These feet protect against gelcoat scratching.
