The Boston Whaler Catalogues from 1958 to 1971 referred to this model name as "SPORTS."
In the 1972 Boston Whaler Catalogue, the model name was both "SPORT" and SPORTS."
When the desert tan 13 came out in 1973, the model was listed as "SPORT."

I worked for Seaford Marine- 1961- 62, A Whaler dealer on Long Island NY. They were putting 40 hp 2stroke Johnson's on them. I have a 1976 13 with an electric start, 2012 Suzuki 25 hp 4 stroke, tiller steer. I had to cut the transom as this engine was bought for a different boat, that used a short shaft engine. This boat sits right on the chine waterline in water. Speeds of 23 knots, with 2 people, full gas tanks. Motor needed a whale tail installed to stop porpoising.
