Envirude Engine Lower Unit Question

Member Posts: 20 Comments: 1 Joined: 02/28/10	I have a problem with my Envirude 4 stroke 70Hp engine whereby I cannot open the bottom bolt to drain the gearcase oil. I have tried WD-40 and other similar products to try to loosen both bolts but to no avail. Are there other means of loosening those bolts. Does Corrision-X works ? Because we have it available in Barbados but it is expensive. Need help to move those two bolts ASAP. Thanks for the help. Dave

Member Posts: 20 Comments: 1 Joined: 02/28/10	It worked great. Got the two screws off with about 5 blows of the hammer on the impact wench. Had to purchase one in Barbados yesterday for about $ 32USD becaue the car mechanics that I checked didn't have any. I think that this tool will become an important tool in my tool kit because with th salt water damage that we get here in Barbados, rust can come in a matter of minutes because of the high humidity and temperature ( as mention previously 95 % humidity and temps in the +95 F or +30 C ) so an impact wench will help when we need to move some of those stubborn nuts and bolts !!! I will be soon posting some of the project pictures as I continue to restore the Boston Whaler Montauk. I have the console and seat out and I am now fixing the floor as we speak. This forum has been a real help in helping me to understand the boat a little better. The engine is off and the sides are sandeds. Just awainting primer.

Member Personal Page Posts: 1086 Comments: 3 Joined: 06/21/10	The salt does not have as much to do with it as the aluminum with steel bolts and screws. Any one who ever owned motorcycles, outboard motors or lawn equipment with aluminum cases will be very happy to own an impact driver. You might also consider purchasing a small tube of thread lubricant called "Never Seeze" and use it where ever steel bolt/screws go into aluminum.
