These three 1x4s form the curved portion of the port and starboard side of the seat back. Note that the middle screws into the bottom piece and is countersunk so as not to interfere with the top piece being screwed into it. The top piece is screwed into the middle piece using ss 1 3/4" screws and finish washers. As these screws will be visible, I screwed them at identical distances from the middle/ends. No glue was used on this project, as I want to be able to unscrew all pieces and sand/refinish in the future (as needed).
