Boston Whaler - Bilge Pump Install 6
In this view the bilge pump is already mounted to the inner wall of the rigging well and the 1 in. drain plug is visible. The set-up is snug but works. When the Dauntless is at rest on the water I will not be able to completely drain the area. This is due to the air gap between the pumps impeller and the plastic strainer base roughly 3/8 in.. Once under way the hull's bow up attitude will help clear the remaining water. That is why I mounted the pump towards the rear and at the lowest angle within the rigging well. At least in the future I will not have standing water all the way up to the inspection cap as before, nasty.
