Purchased on the last day of our honeymoon, she was a bit of a mess - hundreds of holes; a bucket of yellowed epoxy drips throughout; plywood seats and a rusted old bass seat about to rip out of the floor; heavily corroded oar lock sockets; and a rusty old trailer. After a few months of use kicking around the backbays and marinas of SoCal, we stripped her down and prepped for a 6 week restoration. Almost a year later - after moving into a new house in need of nearly as much work as the Whaler - we set out to finish the job.
Trailer has been stripped to bare metal, repainted to match the tow vehicle, rewired and all rollers and bunks replaced.
Hull was stripped down naked with all hardware removed; all holes drilled and filled; oar lock sockets ripped out and filled; reglassed where needed.
We primed and painted with Interlux Perfection in Cream color. All new hardware throughout; a new Split Console Super Sport-derived interior from Specialty Marine. Repowered with a beautiful 1975 Evinrude 55hp. New NFB steering. New rub rail. New bow and stern lights.
Really, the whole shebang. Finishing her Friday for her maiden voyage Saturday. We can't wait!
