Boston Whaler - Front View
here you can see the three hinged stainless steel struts. This is similar to how a swim platform would be braced to the transom (when outside the boat). I made the struts out of 1 inch stainless tubing cut from a single stanchion that I bought at the same salvage place as the swim platform, plus 6 Sea Dog 90 degree heavy duty stainless hinges normally used for bimini top pivots. I think I paid $15.00 or $20.00 for the stanchion and it provided all of the tubing I needed for the supports (including the two attached to the top of the splash well).
