I have a Tohatsu 30 Longshaft that I plan on putting on my 72 13ft sport. What is the easiest and cheapest way to add some height to my transom so that the effects of the longer shaft are less apparent. Are there brackets that I can buy to lift the motor up? Thanks.
The cheapest and easiest way to convert your transom to a longshaft is to buy a transom filler to fill in the notch. Can`t remember the name of the outfit that makes them, but I`m sure someone will chime in. A setback bracket can be used, however the set up.(not the install ) is tricky, and testing needs to be done to get the right height, especially on a motor that is 5" too long for the transom to start with.
Thanks for the help. Called Kentfab today and they priced the bracket at $450. A little more than I wanted to spend but will probably be worth the headache of building the transom up myself and taking the extra time I don't have. Ordering it next week.
