I am planning on building a stand up center console for my 1968 16' whaler which originally had a very low console much like you see in 13'. Well I built it already, just have not glassed it cause it looks too big.

Was just wondering if anyone has the rough dimensions for a console for a 16-17' whaler (height x width x depth)? If possible i am going to just cut my down a bit. Guess I should have asked this question before I began!

Thanks,

Dana

Dana,

In the Downloads section, Parts Drawings, you will find a drawing for the console of the Nauset/Eastport model which should give you an idea on the dimensions Whaler used for the wood console on 16/17' models.

thanks joe, i looked at that earlier but it is not quite what i am aiming at, i'm no carpenter. i went for the "podium" style. i know you can buy simple aftermarket consoles such as my podium style but they all are different sizes. my goal is to connect with someone who has used an aftermarket console and see what dimensions they used. i'm just trying to get a sense for overall size... but i'll have another look at the plans for dimensioning!

thanks

dana

Dana,

Yes, I realize you built something else already.
I just wanted to make sure you knew the dimensions of a stock console that originally came on the 16/17' models. The drawing should provide how wide, deep, and tall a stock console for that model was. That would at least give you an idea.

Joe,

Again thanks, my initial glance at the plan was too quick. After looking again I've found the dimensions I was after. The only problem is there dimensions dont match mine, guess its time to do some cutting.

Thanks a lot,

Dana
