Took the boat out for its 1st trial run. Revs up perfect in the trailer. I can swim faster in the water. Looks as though I have a 10" 13 pitch prop on an evinrude 25. Should I look elswhere instead of the prop ??? Thanks !!!!

Dave,
At this point I wouldn't think it was the pitch of the prop.
It sounds more like a spun hub inside the prop.
Do you have a spare prop you can try?

The engine luggs & will not plane. If the hub was spun I would think that the eng would rev high ?

When your motor "lugs" is it running smoothly or is it sputtering??
Seems to me that if it runs well on the hose but not in the water, you may have carburator problems a d may need to rebuild them.

I just had the same exact problem on my 13. It would rev perfect on the trailer but when I put it in the water the boat would never plane. The boat is a 1995 13 and the motor is a 2000 Suzuki 25 hp four stroke. So I took the boat to a Suzuki dealer and they told me that somehow water got through my water fuel separator and got into the carbs. So they cleaned the carbs and it still didn't have all the power it should. Next step was to check out the prop. It appeared that the prop was smaller then it should have been. I guess after having it refinished 3 times it shrunk a bit. So I ordered a new Michigan Wheel Vortex xhs 3 blade 10.5"x11" and a hub kit and plopped it on. Now all my problems are solved!

13" pitch is too much for a 13 FOOTER, especially if you are carrying passengers, and especially if your engine is running too deep. Try a 9 or 11 inch pitch. The cavitation plate should be running on the water surface when you are on plane.

Also, you didn`t mention the year of your 13 footer, and whether your motor is a long or short shaft. Has this motor been run on this boat in the past. Is it possible you have a long shaft motor on a short shaft boat and running way to much pitch, and carrying a heavy load?
