The OMC V-4's were regarded as some of the best engines produced. I have seen many of the old V-4's still running after many hrs of operation. They weren't the greatest on fuel economy but as far as reliability, they are some of the best.

The 1996 and newer models have "System Check" which is a nice feature.
Having a System Check Tachometer with the separate idiot lights help determine why the warning horn is going off.

They are also a little better on fuel than the earlier models.
