I swear I've seen a paper cone or something similar for straining fuel while it is being poured. I may have a little sediment on my old tanks from fiddling with the old corroded fittings. I've orders a new pair of tanks and need to transfer about 20 gallons of fresh pre-mixed fuel out of those tanks into my gas caddy or directly into my new tanks by way of siphon.

Has anyone else seen these cones? Any other ideas? A clean white t-shirt?

Thanks,

MG

West Marine sells a fuel filter funnel. It has a teflon coated 149 micron filter. It separates water and dirt from fuel. Any water and dirt stays in the funnel and will not go thru. I bought one and it works! I use it on everything I fill up. It comes in different sizes and flow rates.
Years ago people used a chamois as a filter. Pour plain water in this and it stays in the funnel. Fuel is smaller and does goes thru.

When I transferred fuel last summer, I just purchased a universal plastic in-line fuel filter with the proper barb size for the tubing I used to siphon with. Around $3-$4 for the translucent plastic filter with a pleated filter element.
