Hello W/C and members. Came across an interesting product a few weeks ago for O/B set-up when trailering.
Product name and web site: Lock-n-Haul.com
The owner and inventor is an interesting gent who hails out of Texas and I think he's a fishing guide as well, his name is Jim Smith. Simple design and seems very practical in use and for storage. Just ordered mine today, I feel it will be better than having the O/B trimmed all the way up till horizontal and resting on the safety latch found on Yamaha O/B's. Thought I would share this info with you all, see ya...

I had always thought a transom saver was intended to transfer some of the motor mass to the trailer and off the transom. This device seems more like a really secure tilt lock. I suppose its all semantics. The device seems simple but effective.

Hello JohnnyCW, the traditional transom saver unit sold at Bass Pro and others is a mechanical link arm between the lower unit and the rear roller or frame rail (boat trailer). With that design any motion between the trailer and hull when towing will be tranfered to the outboard ultimately being absorbed by the motor mounting hardware and transom. I just thought it is an interesting concept and isolates the motor from the trailer.

Hmmm - my '86 Johnson has built-in legs that kick down to the bracket once the motor is raised fully. Once they're down I let the trim down til it rests on those. Seems sufficient to me. No other outboard I've owned has had these, just a locking latch or pin near the pivot.

Good point. I never considered that.

Hello FASTRFJ I looked at the M-Y Wedge unit, nice but they don't offer it for the small 3 ram power-trim on my Yamaha 90. Ah well...
