Bud, Take off your engine cover and look to see how many carbs are on your engine. One kit per carb.

Budana. Was it the parts guy you asked or was it the mechanic? In either case they should have known or at least been able to look it up and tell you the number of carbs you have.

Parts people live and die by model number and serial number. Its not shocking that they wouldn't know for sure. Most of the programs they use for parts research are set for those numbers to start looking.
BTW, it's probably 4, If I recall correctly thats a V4 motor

The rebuild itself isn't really difficult. Replace what you can from the kits, clean the gasket surfaces well, and clean everything else inside with carb cleaner and compressed air. An ordinary pipe cleaner can help at times also. Two things to watch out for are ensuring the floats are set properly and you always want to "link and sync" the carbs after install to be sure they are operating in unison. Then a quick run and a plug check will tell you if it's adjusted properly.

Go to the BRP PARTS site and look up your specific engine.
From what I can tell, you have 2 carbs and will need 2 Carburetor Repair Kits, part number 0390055 (Equivalent Parts: 0435443,0439076) and the kits are $29.01 each. Check this with what your parts guy is going to order.
The site is also helpful because the expanded parts diagram shows you what you'll be dealing with when you disassemble, and if you pull up the diagram for Intake Manifold, it will show you the two carbs and what's in front and behind. You may want to veryfy with your parts guy that the Carb to Manifold gasket (part #47 on the Intake illustration) is in the rebuild kit, if not you'll have to order separately as you'll need two of those too. Good luck!
