I am looking for the x dimension for my 13' whaler. In Offshore Sport Boats we measure from the bottom of the hull to the center of the prop shaft when the trim is neutral. Does anyone know what this measurement is? Your help would be appreciated.

It will depend on the motor and propeller used.
Not all motors in this class use the same size gearcase.
Not all propellers will tolerate the same elevation.

The motor is a 1991 Johnson 40 HP.

Maybe I'm not getting something here, but aren't "X" dim.'s used to determine the outdrive location on I/Os? With O/Bs, the motor should be hung such that the cav plate is basically level with the keel in neutral trim, i.e. the fore and aft edges of the cav plate are the same distance from the keel measured down.

I never heard of the term x dimension. but that measurement is very important to outboard race boats As many racing gearcases don`t have a normal cavitation plate, the center of the propshaft is used for a fixed point, On hydroplanes the center of the propshaft is usually inline with the boat bottom, and on runabouts the center of the propshaft is usually 1 to 1 1/2 inches below the boat bottom.
About 1/3 of the prop is spinning in the air.
