Is there a good data source for whalers?
Models by year.
Configuration and specs.
bostonwhaler.com and the owners section go back 10 years but it is difficult to find information on earlier models.
Thanks

Are you kidding?

If you aren't, look on the left sidebar............
Whaler Model Specifications................................
We try and cover the older models where Boston Whaler covers the newer models.

Joe
I've seen that but it has limited information.
Very much appreciated but limited to what whalercentral.com users have supplied. I've seen boats that don't fit what is displayed.
What I'd like to see and maybe it's not available is something like:
1984
Models e.g. 13 Sport, Super Sport, Standard, etc
Options
Etc
I don't know if you make any money at this but I really appreciate whalercentral.com and your time and interest.
Thanks
Harvey

There aren't that many options on a 13' model...
Bow Rail, Side Rails... Lights.... Not too exciting.....
What you see in the photos is what you get... Hence, not much to say about it....

13' Sport

13' Super Sport
http://www.whalercentral.com/userphot...lbum_id=45

13' Standard
No photos as there isn't much to show and no members have submitted any photos. Must not be anyone that owns one of these models.
http://www.whalercentral.com/userphot...lbum_id=16

13' Sourpuss
http://www.whalercentral.com/userphot...lbum_id=18

13' models are about as basic as you can get with a few variations and a few options.

I would recommend asking a question as to what you really want to know about a 13' model that isn't covered somewhere here on anywhere else on the Internet... including anything from Boston Whaler.
Maybe someone could answer that question for you.

Harvey,

I believe that your looking for Tom Clark's set of Whaler catalog CD's. They should give you the information your looking for and are a good supplement to what is on WC. You can order those at http://www.tomwclark.com/. You may also try looking thru the personal pages. The nice thing about whalers is you could pretty much custom order your boat in the early days so there is lots of variety. There is also many folks that have modified their whalers of all sizes, some of the mods are really well done.

If you have a specific question about a boat you have seen, many folks here can tell you what was original, what was a home grown mod. As for 1984, you picked the year that the super sport was introduced. As for options in 1984 you had the standard model and the sport model.

The standard included the following
Bow eye, drain plug, norman pin, rub rail, bow locker cover, twart seats and 2 seat risers and a pair of ski eyes.

The sport model replaced the seat risers with a different pair and added side steering with console.
Everything else was optional.

The super sport had an entirely different interior but the same standard rub rail, norman pin ... as the standard and sport models.

Harvey,

If you see boats that aren't shown in the Whaler Model Specifications section and they aren't in the catalogs, then the boats have custom interiors.

The only difference between 13' models is basically the interior.
Take out the interior and the boats are all the same.
Hence, photos of the interiors tell the story along with the description of the models.

Joe,

It seems like the motor capacity is different for the 1968 13" standard and sport. What is the quickest way to tell the difference. I picked one last summer and it was being used with a tiller but there is a wheel and console (not attached)

Thanks

Phil

Phil,

The tiller models were rated around 25 hp...

With the console and steering wheel, they were rated around 40 hp...

That is the only difference...
So, if you hook up the steering wheel, you can use up to 40 hp...
