Hello, I am a new member. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info? I am restoring a 1985 27' cuddy cabin. I am looking for a whaler outdrive for the back. (and other parts as well). Where is the best place to look? I want the outdrive on the back for the floatation, I think it helps the boat ride better in rough seas. Thanks for any info. Gary

Gary,

I assume you are looking for the "WHALER DRIVE" engine bracket right? Well first of all unless the boat was ordered as a Sea Drive option or as a WHALER DRIVE blank you will not be able to attach the Whaler Drive.

Whaler does still make and sell the Whaler Drive bracket through Whaler C&GPD and it only comes in white or grey. So, if you want it desert tan you will have to paint it. Last I remember they wanted $10,000 for a Whaler Drive to fit a 25' so I am not sure what teh cost of the one for a 27'. It's part number for the 27 is: Whaler Drive System (27GD / CH/VG) Number: 61310. Finding a used Whaler Drive is like trying to locate Nessie. They are just not out there.

In either case I would think your best bet is to look into adding an Armstrong or Stainless Steel Marine aftermarket bracket instead. If it is a Whaler Drive blank hull I do not know way it would not already have some type of bracket.

Here is an article that should be of help to you on this subject.
