I had the wife order a nice shiny new Stiletto 10-1/2 X 13 prop for the 13 at Christmas. I won't be able to run it for at least two more months.
Wondered if anyone has a Stiletto Stainless Steel prop on the same engine with a Sport model like mine (2000-2001). The prop sure looks nice. The old 13 and 14 pitch 10-3/8" aluminum props were fine, but I always want better. When I get the chance to run it, perhaps I can use the GPS and get some numbers recorded for others. I have 2 aluminum props and the Stiletto. That will give me an excuse to get on the water early!
Nissan propellers are not Stiletto propellers. There is far more to propeller design than just pitch and diameter.
The proper propeller will also depend on what motor it is on. I don't see where any motor is even mentioned. No horsepower, no WOT RPM range, no gear ratio, no speed data. Without all that information, there is no point speculating what propeller is right.
Yes. Well. Tom, this is the prop you gave me the part number for last year. You suggested it after a prop discussion. I simply haven't had a chance to use it yet and wondered if anyone else had.
I guess I forgot a few everythings. I have the stock 40 Hp 2 Stroke Mercury engine. I think the gear ratio label says 2:35 to 1.
I had the Mercury 10-3/8" x 14 originally. It ran 5,000 RPM WOT with an empty boat. Dogged pretty bad with much of a load. I changed to a 10-3/8" x 13 last year and raised my motor to the top holes. Now it turns about 5,300 RPM WOT if it's me alone. I also added a Sting Ray stabilizer which seems to help with a porpoising problem the boat has always had. I did seem to lose some top end when I added it. When I load up the boat with the coolers and fishing gear, the ride is decent and we run just above 5,000 RPM WOT. Of course, I don't cruise at WOT for very long.
I suppose I'll just have to get out and test it when this global warming we've got out here melts the ice.
