I got the 5-Year promotional email from Evinrude September 24th. I've been kicking around the idea of a re-power - though my 86 Johnson purrs like a kitten. I do want to travel with the Whaler more, so reliability and fuel mileage are driving factors. The environment is another consideration.
So I responded to the email - by clicking through to the landing page and requesting a quote. I have yet to hear back from them. I know I can call, but I'm in the web marketing business, so it really irritates me to see them drop the ball like this. Not good for a guy like me who is on the fence. I want a response - I want numbers - I want the name and number of a local dealer. Come on guys - sell me a motor.
Has anyone else had the same problem?

No excuse for it, but there is a chance that your request took off in cyberspace and never got to them....I'd resubmit it.

Just filled out the form again and resubmitted. I also tried to locate my local dealer and got an error:
[color=#ff0033]Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e57'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]String or binary data would be truncated.

I filled it out a couple of months ago and never got a reply either.
My guess is even if everything is working technically, the request gets forwarded to a local Evinrude dealer in hope they contact you. Here in my area of Florida, boat and engine dealers are closing their doors left and right due to the slow economy. Many of the manufacturer's dealer networks are probably a mess. Ironic since the program is a marketing effort but apparently they seem to be putting little effort into it other than flashy web pages.

Those requests get forwarded to the local dealers so they can contact you. Any number of things could have gone haywire with the dealer dropping the ball by far the most likely.
If you want a price, call a dealer and talk with a salesperson yourself. Email is great, but there is no substitute for human interaction.
Evinrude's web site is rather pathetic in my opinion. Great motors, pitiful web site. Your request could have also dropped through the electronic cracks. Who knows?

I went to a local boat show a few yrs ago, I had the "Cabbage" in my pocket looking to "Re-power". I could not find a single outboard dealer there, a guy did try and sell me "Windows" though. A few days later I got to the local Evinrude shop and started the paper work on my new motor, I asked why they were NOT at the show, the owner said that they were at the show, I said "I only saw an empty booth". The guy turn's and shoot's his son this "LOOK", and the kid said "But, like there was this guy at the show that wanted to look at a boat back at the shop"... I could see the blood boiling behind the shop owner's glasses, while he thanked me for choosing "Evinrude". I told him that "I returned because, I know from the past, he stand's behind his work". It can be frustrating.

I put in an online request for a catalog and some information a couple of months ago.
A week later I received an email from my closest dealer and then a week after that I received a 2010 Evinrude catalog directly from BRP....
Worked for me....
