2000 Mercury 40 HP Will Not Start

Member Posts: 6 Comments: 0 Joined: 09/25/09	I have a 2000 Sport 13 with a 40 HP Mercury that hasn't been run for about a year. I've been trying to get it going today and am not having too much luck. I have fresh gas, the oil level has been filled and there are new plugs. I've cleaned the fuel lines and filter. I started it and ran it for about 4 minutes and then the "horn" came on. Member Personal Page Posts: 4280 Comments: 7 Joined: 09/30/05	If the horn came on the first thing I think of is an over heat condition. Was the boat in the water or were you running the motor on muffs in the driveway? Did you replace the impeller before attempting to start it?
