I'm repowering an 18 Outrage from a 1986 Johnson 120 to a 2003 Yamaha 150 (2-stroke car. Will my OMC engine controls be reusable? Thanks. -- Bud

Bud,
I believe there are many different cable end adapters that will work on many engines.
You will have to talk to a dealer or maybe someone else here that has already been through this process. I know of several members that have used OMC controls on Yamaha engines.
Check with the Teleflex people who make the throttle/shift cables or an Outboard motor shop.
I would be inclined to change the controls over to the Yamaha brand as the Yamaha 704 controls are much nicer in my opinion than the older OMC controls. You can get them reasonable enough on eBay or from another member.

OK. What's another $3-400? New it is...
The motor is getting delivered to my dealer today. Hopefully it checks out!

Bud,
I just put a list of Yamaha Binnacle Controls in a small article.
The Standard series is only $23.00 less than the Premium series so I would recommend the Premium series.

Thanks Joe, The best I've seen on prices for the premium series is $229.

I swear I saw it somewhere for $267 or so with 18' cables but can't find that site anymore.
It will be interesting to see what my local dealer wants to charge -- I'm sure full retail.

Maybe I was thinking of the MULTI FUNCTION TACHOMETER KIT I found over on boats.net for $269 with a wire harness:
