What are the sympstons of a shered drive shaft? I was water skiing over the weekend and the motor was fine for two skiers. My brother was in the water, I took slack then floored it. All of the sudden the RPM screamed and the boat would not move. The water pump also stopped. I turned off the motor. Made sure all the cables were still connetcted and they were. Called the Mech and he said sounds like a drive shaft. Any Idea? It is a 1980 Merc. 40.
