I am installing a 60 hp 2 stroke Merc on my '88 15' Sport using a CMC 51/2 " setback plate. I know that the engine well is tight to the standard mounting pattern, so I plan on using the CMC plate optional mounting holes to decrease the distance between the upper & lower holes. I would like to know if there are any edge distances that I should respect when mountine the plate to the transom & is there a distance to respect between the upper & lower mounting holes? Just want to know before I do something that could compromise the strength or safety of the transom.
