35HP Evinrude Stalling Problems @ high Speeds

Member Posts: 1 Comments: 0 Joined: 04/19/06	I just rebuild the carburetor on my 1983 35 HP Evinrude and it run's great at low speeds and idles great. However, when I'm cruising at high speeds its stalls on me unless I continually squeeze the fuel line bulb. I replaced the fuel line from the tank to the engine which came with brand new connections. When I rebuilt the carburetor I did clean it thoroughly with carb cleaner. My next thoughts were to buy a fuel rebuild kit. Can someone explain how this fuel pump works? http://www.ishopmarine.com/ishop/jsp/...atSupFldr= Also would adjusting the needle adjustment help at all at high speeds? I dialed it in to idle great.

Member Posts: 1607 Comments: 9 Joined: 05/09/07	Also check to see if there's a small in-line fuel filter under the engine cowling as these can get restricted and cause similar issues. If you have a fuel pressure/vac gauge there are tests you can do to check the pump operation. Dave - 1983 Outrage 22
