Hello all,
I'm with the Wavechaser Paddle Series here in SF Bay Area. On August 22nd, 2009, we are hosting the US Surfski Championships here in the San Francisco Bay. This will be our 5th year and we are looking to find some extra safety boats. This race will have some of the best kayak paddlers in the World here. Paddlers from South Africa, Australia, Spain, New Zealand, Tahiti, etc.
We usually have 5-7 safety boats for this event, but we have changed the course this year and expect the field to be more spread out than in past years.
The course starts at Fort Baker, runs out the Golden Gate to the navigation bouy just past Point Bonita. The racers will turn there and head back towards Angel Island and finish at Berkeley Marina. Aprox 16 miles.
We host similar races at the same local and have dealt with extreme winds, tides and swell.
We can offer to pay for gas, provide race shirts and BBQ at the finish of the race. I'm posting here on this forum as most of our safety boats are Boston Whalers. In fact, we have collected about 10 different whalers, all in different stages of completion. We'll have 2-17 Montauks,, 1-17 Outrage II and a 25'Guardian and a couple of Waverunners with lifesleds on our end for now. We're hoping to get another 4-5 Boston Whalers, preferably 20'+.
If you are interested, please drop me an email at mikem@wavechaser.com Basic race info can be found at www.ussurfski.com
Thanks for your help!

This is a different event. The other event is a Paddleboard race in September. That's where I got the idea about posting on the BW forums. I'm usually in here looking for info on our whalers and thought it was a great idea. Thanks for your interest!
