I am currently looking to buy a 1976 15 ft. sport with a 1976 70 hp. Johnson outboard. The boat is outside uncovered. All cables are toast. How much are the steering cable and shift cables approx. The inside cable and outside jackets will be needed.
Thanks
Drew

Check the prices here to give you an idea.
Surplus Unlimited
Throttle and shift cables are about $22 each.
Look at the Teleflex brand.

Thanks for the info. Trying to nego. a price on this boat that hasn't had much love in six years sitting outside uncovered and not used. Hope the hull is fairly dry. Primarily used as a ski boat so it doesn't have to many extra holes.

I have a question realted as I am planning to replace my steering cable. I did not install it originaly so I am not sure which type rotary or rack. Mine has a flex cable that enters on one side of steering box and exits on the same side only on the other side of the wheel shaft. like a rope around a pulley, is this a rotary steering box? I assume a rack type would be rack & pinion with a cable coming in one side and exiting on the other side all in a straight plane the same side of the wheel shaft. Mine also attatches by a keeper which snaps in place when housing is inserted and requires a pin (supplied) to push a release to remove cable from box, are all cables made this way or do i need to identifiy before purchasing a new one. The reason for replacement is hard steering and I think the cause is too short a cable. I have no curve to speak of from the tunnel to engine and almost as bad in console so I think original owner installed wrong size cable. What size(length) should be on a 1970 Eastport? Wannabe mine is 16 ft 7 in. and also has a 1975 70 HP Johnson it gets 31 mph on the GPS, 3 large adults and loaded with a full days fishing gear & snacks. That 15 must fly! Bob

I certainly can't answer your question on what type to get as there is not enough of it left to check it out on the boat I am looking at. A previous thread answered my length question of 11 ft. Seventy horse is the max. for a 15 ft sport.

Tharsheblows, you have a rotary system.
Check out my project album, I am assuming it looks like mine...?

Thanks jquigley, Thats it. now I know what to buy. Wannabe that should be a fun ride with good water conditions! I am not a daredevil but to have the power when you want it would be great. When I repower I am thinking I will go for max HP.

Wannabe I just ordered a new 18 ft cable. I searched the web and the best price I found was at Jamestown Distributors $98.16. I have purchased many things from them in my restore and they are very good to do business with. Bob

Thanks for the tip. I have to get the guy to sell first. His family wants to sell and he is reluctant even though I hasn't been in the water in six years and been outside unloved. go figure

Wow Joe I left the thread and completely forgot about surplus unlimited. I have now entered them in my boating equipment favorites folder now!

Tharsheblows,
I buy many things from them and they have always been great. They even have things not listed on their website in stock or can get them.
