I recently repowered and now experience water spray between my transom and engine until I trim out at higher speeds. Does this mean that the engine needs to be moved up?

What hole is the engine mounted in now?

Joe it is in the very top (lowest position) with room to come all the way up. The boat handles nice and runs 48 MPH. I'm not sure if the spray at untrimmed speeds is from being too close to the transom (need jackplate?) or being too low (until I get it trimmed out). Does anyone else experience this when trimmed all the way in?

The engine should not be all the way down.

Most Outrages are minimum of 1 hole up and many are mounted 2 holes up.

Mine is mounted 1 hole up although not an E-Tec the same principal applies.
I would start off by trying 1 hole up.

Hi, I have basiclly the same outrage with an '07 150 etec and it's mounted all the way up. Don't recall the measurement offhand but I'll measure in the AM if you would like. Trimmed out and runing WOT there is spray from the engine. Prop is a viper with a 17" pitch.

Hi, measured the bolt hole and I'm down 2 1/8" from the top of the transom. The engine is all the way "up" and can't go any higher. The spray at low speeds with eng. trim "in" is min. I don't leave mine trimmed all the way "in", as it is too difficult to steer to stbd. I have the twin cable system. She comes up on plane Very quickly, as yours probbly does to. Do you cruise on the Ohio or on lakes in your area?

Raised engine up to the second to last hole and it completely solved the problem. Boat planes great, no spray, 1 MPH faster, less trim required and perfect RPM at WOT.

Thanks for all of your help.
