I have a 2001 Dauntless 180. I have a 72 qt. cooler seat with tie downs that are straps with clips. I remember older Whalers that had more of a bungy cord style of tie down for these coolers. Anyway, I was just wondering how people have their cooler seats tied down. What is the best method? What is the most stable method?
The early cooler tie downs used the bungee cords.
The later models used the 1" straps with the quick disconnect clips.
I have had both types on different model Whalers. They both worked good for me.
The coolers for both types of straps need the Boston Whaler cooler hooks on the cooler. http://www.whalercentral.com/photogal...?photo=311
I use the bungee type with a stainless steel s-hhok throught the eye on the side of an igloo marine series cooler. You can get rot free cooler tie downs from Fin Addict marine that are made like the original mahogany version from whaler.
Fin Addict is a great site for whaler replacement parts made out of king starboard. This stuff is the same as whaler board and it will not rot. Fit and Finish are superb.
