Hi, I have a 13 foot 1984 Boston WHaler and I had a 1983 40 hp Mercury outboard which the outboard was not working.
So I was able to buy a 1993 40 hp Mariner with tilt which came
off a 1993 13 foot Boston Whaler.
My question is about mounting this new engine on my whaler
there are not screw mounting bolts that screw on the top of transon like my old engine.
Is the engine held on with 4 through transon bolts ?
What is the best way to mount the engine ?
It is heavy and hard to line up to drill the holes ?
ps - Welcome to Whaler Central from one newbie to another.
Also, Bill, the consensus here on small Whalers is to raise the engine so the cavitation plate is at least level with and preferably about 1" higher than the lowest point on the transom. If you use the BIA pattern you can adjust your engine height simply by using different holes in the motor mount, keeping the same set of 4 holes in your transom. Hope this helps.
