When starting, sometimes the engine will "click" once, then nothing. A couple of repeated attempts with just a "click" and then it will turn over and start right up.
I don't have experience with boat engines, but do with cars. Multiple clicks might mean solenoid, but there's only one. Could be low battery - I'll check.
Thought I would ask for other thoughts.
THanks,
It sounds like a connection problem to me. I like to look at the obvious first. A dirty battery terminal can cause low current flow that will give you that click like when your battery is almost dead. Then a spark at that bad connection and good flow. I say spark, but you can't see it. It isn't much. I had that problem at my battery switch. I removed all the connections, cleaned them, and reassembled them. You can also have a loose or corroded wire at the terminal inside your cowling, either at the starter or the solenoid. Sometimes the copper terminal can get compressed from the engine heating (expanding) and cooling (contracting) and just needs to be tightened. Check all the connections first. That will either fix it or eliminate that as a problem.
Good luck and keep us posted.
