I have a 1998 Johnson 175 Ficht on this Whaler. Model J175FSXECS, Serial # 04500671. I know, I Know Fichts don't have a good name, but mine has run like a champ for the last 4-5 years. It has had the power head replacement/upgrade done by the previous owner.
Problem: The temp gauge has never been accurate, always shows the temp maxed out when the boat is in full throttle and run around 170 when just idling. I would like too get the gauge to read accuratly. I have changed the gauge and the temp sensor on the motor in the last few years but without luck. There is one wire coming off the gauge that does not have a home. Does anyone have a diagram showing where the wires should go for this gauge in laymans terms? Or any other advice that would help me get the gauge to read correctly. I understand there is another temp sensor or switch on the motor relating to this and I'm wondering if I should just replace that as well. Any advice would be appreciated.
