well, was sanding a rust spot with drill and wire brush. All the sudden this tube was on the ground and this other tube sticking out. 200 HP Merc. I have no idea where this tube goes or how it hooks up. It's baffling!

Would appreciate help on getting this back together and on motor, whatever it is.

The motor is tilted up almost to horizontal. The little plastic tube comes out of the about 1" tube on the motor that the stainless shaft comes out of. That shaft would be towards the boat when the motor is down, about in the middle of the motor.

Can you see the small black tube in the left of the photo? It comes out of that "black open shaft". I have no idea why it is just floating around in there...never noticed it before. The piece that was on the ground is in my hand.

was thinking... (scary) is that tube part of the Speedo? If so, how does it hook back up? is there a coupling missing so you can change out the bottom end if it gets plugged up? I can't see how it would attach.

its the speedo hose. Mechanic said will have to drop the lower end of the motor to get the hose back on. Have paddle wheel and GPS so its gonna get plugged.
