Hey John,
I am down in Anderson and was wondering if you had some information on the Water Festival. i.e. website or other. I might be able to go down, just need to work out some dates.
Thanks
Jamie

I have lived here 16 years and not even gone 20 miles by car. May even be closer by water. It's a madhouse. E-mail for phone number. Maybe a great place to go by day and get out...and I'm not even a parent! Have a great day. zotcha.

Well thats the way to do it right. I'd be on it in a second. It gets pretty nuts. As the day wears on, it just gets crazier. With county law enforcement, and DNR officers completely understaffed and almost non-funded I'm afraid there will be more problems this year than ever. Just be careful, enjoy yourself and watch out for the other guy.
Our waterways have become so crowded with brand new, uneducated boaters, I guess from the economy of the last 8 or 10 years. I imagine this is true most everywhere. Just serious lack of common sense, courtesy and consideration.
As a career firefighter and member of our local Marine Rescue Squadron I almost never go out on weekends anymore. In the last three of four weekends we have flown out boating and PWC injuries.
Give me a call if you want to run 30 minutes south and meet another 15. zot.

Hi Zot
I feel the same way. We avoid the weekend folks. It is so much more enjoyabe to go out during the week days & have the waters to yourself.
Thanks for your commitment, our community of safe and considerate boaters appreciate what you do.
I can't say thanks enough, but be safe in what you do.

Hey Zot:
I hear what you're saying. I live in southeast Louisana. We have the same problems. Overpopulated rivers and lakes with uneducated and young boaters--I mean 15-18 year olds running their Dad's high dollar toys.
My wife and I took the kids out on the Whaler today. For the first time, we pulled my son in an inflatable behind the boat. We went late in the evening hoping the crowd would have thinned. It wasn't so bad, but around 4pm I guess the crazies decided to leave the waterfront restaurants and bars. We saw one minor crash and another nut getting a ticket.
I almost moved to Beaufort,SC about five years ago. If anyone goes to the water festival, try to take some pics and post them. I would love to see.
We have the old wooden boat festival down here. Whenver it is, I plan to go and and post some pics afterward. They aren't whalers, but a whaler nut can surely appreciate the fine craftsmanship of these boats.

Two Saturdays ago I off-duty worked a boating accident. 23 year old kid, Dad's month old boat, pulling a tube, 8 on board, and when the tuber would wipe out, kid would turn around so hard, locals watching could not understand how he did not run over his own ski line. Two hours this went on!
Finally threw a 23 yaer old female out, and ran her over. Over 25 years in this field I have never seen anything like this, unless DEAD! Two days later I was advised she is a bartender I've known over three years! Absolutely no possible way to ID her. She is still alive for whatever thats worth. Makes me sick. Have a great day and remember:
You are responsible for your wake! zotcha.

Jeez thats a terrible story about that girl getting thrown out. I couldn't imagine getting ran over by a boat. It used to be that you only had to worry about a jet skier trying to jump your wake, but now I guess the trend it to get a ski boat and act like a moron with it.
