Scott, I think that you will get many different opinions on this. From what I understand (no first hand experience) it will work, but it will be stern-heavy and may have porpoising issues.

1989 Outrage 22' Whaler Drive, 2014 Honda 250
I've got a 1988 Johnson 50 (two cylinder) that is much lighter. Runs well. Trim and Tilt, aluminum prop, throttle, shift cables and control box. All original from my 1988 15 Sport. Dependable and way cheaper. I'd even deliver it, or temporarily put it back on the 15 so you could hear it run. Located in Bluffton, SC. Looking for $800. Hope you don't have teenagers! zotcha.
