A friend of mine said he read a hydro foil could possible do damage to the transom of his boat due to excessive stress. so I asked the question is there an amount of horsepower where one should look at trim tabs instead of a hydro foil. My friend is running a 115hp on a Javlin. I know it is not a whaler the theory would still apply, so the question is still a valid one.

I would think that the size of the boat would be the determining factor vs the size of the motor. I have never run across a boat that was damage from either if they were installed properly
