I'm taken a trip to Boston this week. The wife has always wanted to see Boston, so we are heading up there. I am bringing my kids, 7 & 4, along. Where are some of the better places to visit? As I will be there for a day and a half, time is of concern. Any suggestions?

I don't live there but as a kid my favorite places were the Peabody Museum at Harvard for the dinosaur bones -it was better than the Smithsonian- and Boston Commons for the ride on the Swan Boats. And your 4 year old ought to be primed with the picture book "Make Way For Ducklings." Most libraries will have it.

Hi,
I always take visitors to the top of the Hancock Tower. The view is great, and there's a neat presentation there too...
The second favorite thing is the "Mapararium" (spelling is prob wrong). It is a huge antique stained glass globe that you walk into. It is located at the Christisian Science Center. It doesn't take long, but people like it.
Then there is Fenway Park... Greatest place in the world to watch a baseball game, if you find tix!
Have a great trip...

There is a ton of stuff to do that can be covered in an afternoon.
Take a Duck Tour (the real one, not Superduck). The kids will love this!!!!! These are WWII era amphibious trucks that tour around the city & then take a drive/swim in the Charles River. The drivers all are entertaining, giving off the history of the city during the ride. It is a real cool way to see Boston from land & the water. A little pricey but worth it! Seriously, the kids will talk about this forever. They typically have canvas & side curtains up if the weather is foul.
Fanuel Hall & Quincy Market area has a ton of history to it, but it is mostly just a big food court. There are a bunch of shops & entertainers around the area.
Paul Revere's House & The Old North Church & a bunch of other historical stuff are within walking distance of each other in the North End. Great place to walk around, check out the people & get a bite to eat; there are a ton off good resturants.
If you are up for walking, check out the Public Garden if the weather is nice (but it supposed to rain most of the week) and take a ride on the Swan Boats. There are tons of flowers, plants & statues of the Ducks from the book "Make Way for Ducklings" if they were into this story. There are also a ton of beautiful women that walk thru the area all day long. I always take the dog for a walk here & check out the scenery when I have her in town with me.
Again, if the weather is good, and you feel like taking a walk, you can follow the waterfront from the North End to Fort Point Channel along the Harborwalk.
Weather is poor, there are a ton of museums & inside stuff; Museum of Science, Childrens Museum, etc. The Constitution & Naval Museum is worth checking out as well if the kids want to see a real old ship. This is located in Charlestown & is walking distance from the North End.
Just a warning; the parking stinks!!!!! THere are a bunch of garages, but they are expensive. There are metered spots available, but are difficult to find during the day & the meter maids circle like vultures.
