Hello, this is my first post here. I'm still wading around, downloaded a few things, lots of reading, lots to learn. Recognize a few names. I am "towboater" on CW. Very helpful site, thanks.
Jeff & his Dads boat has been a huge inspiration.
I'm looking for a "live" OEM parts link for a fuel block & cover assembly. BW & Florida Marine Tanks have not responded...well, to be fair, my request was sent last Wednesday. I still have hope but may be lost in net space.
I tried Chuck Bennet & that site did not load.
This is a GSA 22 foot CPD boat, I always planned on making my own block...and still can. It just seems to me this block assembly probably is used on all tank sizes and may still be available if I can find it.
Michael. I bet FMT does not do Stainless Tanks. Have you thought about just getting a standard aluminum tank from FMT and coating it with line-x? I would bet a tank like that would out last the boat. I have heard of it being done before though not on a whaler to my knowlwdge.
Also there is debate on whether to refoam the new tank in place on an Outrage. My vote is a firm NO. Build a cradle to allow water to pass around the tank and add a drain at the bottom of the tank void the leads to the stern splash well.

The tank in your boat is aluminum, not stainless steel. It was made by Florida Marine Tanks (FMT) and they should be able to supply you with the parts you need. Call them on the phone:
Since no replies to my emails, Ive been calling tank builders. You are right, nobody stocks OEM fuel blocks. Not a big deal, I planned on making one anyway...but, I thought it was a alum tank. Ive got it covered.
more important, thanks SO MUCH for your advice on whether or not to remove the tank foam & simply drill a drain hole between the bait and tank wells.
I drilled a 7/8" test hole just thru the mat near the fwd bottom portion of the bait well, just a tablespoon of water dripped out. The foam is white and far more dense than the orange foam I removed from the bait well and still surrounds the fuel tank. Sealed it with a rubber pipe plug for now. I will go completely thru tomorrow.
1.5 gals remained inside the bait well after removing all of the foam.
Im betting 3 gals are stuck inside the tank well.
Now, building this cradle? Im not sure I follow you but if it keeps water from getting captured inside the tank well I would like to know what you did.
Florida Tank called back yesterday, I was in a hurry and they didnt have parts for SS tanks.
After reading Toms post, I went back out to inpect that bugger. The welds are so good, so tight...the tank is very strong, BUT, the welds on the ground clips are definitely heavy duty alum gobs.
Called Florida Tanks back this morn, different Sales person, different material, more time...alum OEM assy is on its way. $75 plus freight. COD.
Thankyou Tom for not believing me.
Yeah, Im feeling pretty dumb right now (nothing new) but this baby is gettin put back together. Its gonna run.
So, Im tellin my wife all this, that the last piece is ready, I just need to run to Astoria to pick up the steering and she sez..."who is gonna put it all together?"
oh man. lol.
I told her Tom Clark will be coming down and all I have to do is stand back and watch.
