I have purchased a 1989 22' revenge this year. Equipped with the original 175 HP Evinrude, it had only 177 hrs clocked when I bought it. A fabolous boat that have 40 hrs added to the meter already and the summer is still not over here in Norway.
My question is: I get a little confused when i read about the (beautiful) wood details on my Whaler. Some places state teak and other mahogany. What is correct?
It depends on what wood part.
Almost all Whalers used different types of wood for different items.
Here is an example of the wood on an Outrage.
1. Teak Gunwales
2. Teak Console Doors
3. Solid Mahogany Cooler Cleats (varnished)
4. Plywood Mahogany for Under the Gunwale Rod Holders (varnished)
If you are unsure about the type of wood a particular item was originally installed in your Revenge, you might post that question on this forum.
