I recently acquired a 1998 13' Dauntless, and want to add the optional fishing pedestal, which mounts with a special vertical bracket on the bulkhead under the anchor door. I am finding this to be a hard part to find, and am wondering if anyone has attempted a different solution.
The anchor door is fairly thick, and I am evaluating using a newer flush mount pedestal plate mounted to the top of the door. It looks like using one of these type mounts with bolted through a backer plate on the bottom side of the door may be adequate to support the seat, but I don't want to damage the door.
I have seen the newer style pedestal seat mounted on top of the lockers on many Outrage's.
I have also seen them mounted on Montauks.
If you do mount this type of seat, remember, no one sits in the seat while underway.
Even the bulkhead mount seat for the Classic models had a sticker that said, Do not use while underway.
