It's a 1984 Super Sport 17 with a console and flip-flop cooler seat from a Carolina Skiff with an aluminum tank under the console.
Any thoughts on making the bullet hole in the front look a little prettier? I filled it with epoxy so it's sealed but short of re-gel coating it, what can be done to blend it in a little?

First thing is....don't ever take the Whaler back to the same place where she was shot again!

Have you tried a gel repair kit? you can sand down just enough to paint a little on with a brush.Put it on kind of thick and sand back down smooth. Those little kits come with small amounts of color to get it to a decent match.

Alright Kurt... I think I speak for everyone when I say "spill the beans" What's the deal with the bullet hole? You can't just leave everyone here at WhalerCentral hanging with "it's a long story". Maybe you should trade her in for a military hull fixed with a 50cal on the bow.... Is there an Ex involved?

I didn't see "NY" on the "Hull" number's, so it can't be a "Drive By" shooting.

Yes, a Spectrum Gel Coat Repair Kit will do the job nicely. They are very easy to use and cost only $20 or so.

Spectrum Gel, I'll have to give that a try. The price is ideal with it being only $20!
On to the bullet hole. I just purchased this boat, tossed all of the rotten wood, etc. Anyways, the previous owner told me that some thieves broke into his shop where this boat was being stored and he was either shooting at them or they were shooting at him, I wasn't clear on that, but at any rate the whaler got picked off. The man was an older man, and had all history of this boat. Apparently, it was originally owned by a man that lived on the battery in Charleston SC. Then the man passed away and was sold to the guy I purchased it from. He was definitely a story teller, and had a side-story for everything. The bullet hole was one of 50 side stories. Pretty interesting guy.

Another thumbs up for Spectrum. It's $30 by the time you get it shipped. 2oz does not seem like much, but I repaired a ding about the size of your bullet hole, filled 6 holes in my transom, and laid down a good bit on my forward keel to build back years worth of beaching and hitting the trailer. I still have about an ounce left too.
Directions are easy. For the marine-tex concern, I'd dremel out a good bit of the marine-tex before applying. My only learning was to not lay it on too thick, as it is tough as nails when it's cured. You will need to wet-sand, compound, polish and wax when done.
