Help Engine Trim Stuck down!

Member Posts: 2 Comments: 0 Joined: 03/21/09	I bought a 13' gls whaler 89'. Took it out for the first time and the engine trim gets stuck in the down position. The motor sounds like its working, But I hear an awful grinding sound or a loud screech. I'm not sure what I need to do about this. IF anyone could give some advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Member Posts: 2 Comments: 0 Joined: 03/21/09	I'm sorry, It's the original motor that came with the boat which is a Evinrude 40. Cant get it to tilt up at all. Is there a way to disconnect from hydraulic?

Loosen this screw and you can raise the engine by hand. Sounds like the trim motor may be bad. Or the fluid may be low. Check your engine manual on how to fill the reservoir.

Member Personal Page Project Albums Posts: 902 Comments: 8 Joined: 01/30/06	loosen the screw as mentioned above to get the boat home. I would bet on low fluid level if you actually think the motor is running.You should be able to find a screw back there that says fill beside it.
