Hello do you have any pictures of the dive door or even better pictures of the boat and dive door. I have seen the navy using Boston Whalers with part of the port side gunnel gone, when training dolphin in San Diego bay. Whaler central is great site. they have a place for pictures of your boat if you want to post them, it's called Personal Page.
As far as shade have you considered a T-Top? If I could have one on my Montauk I world put one on. I have toyed with different way to make one with out riggers for jig lines, hand pulled kind.

Here's a photo of a 20' Guardian with a dive door.
I don't see any reason why a sun top could not be added but I could be wrong.

Thanks Joe that is not what I was thinking it was. The ones the navy had; was a banana boat and the deck went to the out side of the hull and was 3-4 feet long. I was hoping to see that kind. I must have had my models mixed up.

thanks for the replies!
i guess i need to change my settings to notify me of replies to my post... i have a few pictures i will upload. i guess i should have been more specific. i want to add a bench along the rear (where the black storage box is in the picture) and would like that to be shaded.
I need to take better pictures of the side with the door...
it's pretty long.

Cool boat. There was a 27' Guardian in TX for sale for a long time that had a custom top (and a lot of other goodies). Can't find the pics.

Here is something similar - not the best angle, but you can see teh framework and coverage:

EDIT:
That photo was too large and taking too long to load.
I changed it to a link instead.

You certainly can have a T type top on a montauk.

Go to Bimiteetop.com. I have the antenna, lights, PA speaker, etc on mine. They also come with a electronics base and pole holders if you want them.
Phil T of South Portland Maine has pictures of my top posted.

It also comes "off" for garage storage. It goes up or down in about 10 minutes.
